Why this page exists

Standards
How Hacklab ASU chooses topics, checks claims, names writers, dates articles and handles corrections and commercial links.
Before you trust a word elsewhere on hacklabasu.org, it is fair to know how those words get made. That is the entire purpose of this page.
Topics come from three places: reader mail, our own notes, and gaps we notice while reading what else is published. Nothing gets written because a keyword tool suggested it.
We earn from some outbound links. That pays for hosting and research time, and it does not decide the verdict of any page.
Nobody has ever bought the removal of a fair criticism here, and the ones who try mostly hand us the material for the next article.
We attach a person to every article on purpose. It means a mistake costs the writer something, which is the strongest quality control a site this size has.
We treat dates as facts, not decoration. Refreshing a page to look current without changing its substance is a small lie we would rather not tell, so we do not touch the date unless the content genuinely moved.
Corrections go to [email protected]. Include the address and the sentence. Anything factual is fixed without argument. Anything that changes what the article recommends gets a dated note underneath, so the change is visible.
